MIRI: Police here are seeking public assistance in locating a 14-year-old girl who has been reported missing from a plantation workers’ settlement along the Miri–Bintulu road.
The teenager, identified as Nurhayati Abdullah, was last seen on the afternoon of Mar 9 at a workers’ quarters in Ladang Sarimas 1, located along the Miri–Bintulu highway.
Police said the girl was last spotted at about 3pm at the quarters in the plantation settlement. Her disappearance was reported to the authorities, triggering a search and a public appeal for information.
Nurhayati is described as a 14-year-old female of Malay ethnicity, believed to have been born on Oct 11 2011.
Police said she does not possess any personal identification documents and is believed to be a non-citizen.
Investigators have released details of her physical appearance in an effort to assist members of the public who may have seen her.
She is described as heavily built, standing at approximately 170 cm tall and weighing around 90 kg. She has a yellowish complexion and shoulder-length black hair.
Police said there were no confirmed sightings of the teenager since she was last seen at the workers’ quarters three days ago. Her current whereabouts remain unknown.
The case is being investigated by Sergeant Nikol Losa, who is attached to the Miri district police headquarters.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the girl, or who may have information that could assist in locating her, to come forward.

Police said cooperation from the public is crucial in helping trace the missing teenager as investigations continue.
