KOTA SAMARAHAN: Monitoring has been intensified along the pedestrian walkway at Jalan Desa Ilmu following complaints over unauthorised structures built by traders in the area.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) said in its Facebook page that its Enforcement Division conducted a follow-up inspection on Thursday (Mar 12) after receiving public complaints regarding the construction of structures along the pedestrian pathway.
The inspection found several structures erected by hawkers operating in the area without approval from the local authority, affecting the function of the walkway meant for public use.
In response, MPKS enforcement officers installed perimeter tape at the affected location and issued notices instructing those involved to dismantle the structures and clear any construction debris within the stipulated period.
The council said the action was taken to ensure the pedestrian walkway remains safe, orderly and free from obstructions that could pose risks to users.
MPKS stressed that monitoring and enforcement will continue to be carried out from time to time to ensure public facilities are properly maintained and can be fully utilised by the public.
It also reminded traders to comply with regulations and obtain approval from the local authority before erecting any structures or carrying out business activities in public areas.
