BINTULU: The public is urged to use the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application to report safety concerns and provide information directly to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Bintulu District Police chief, Superintendent Nixon Joshua Ali, said the app allows the police to receive early tips from the community, enabling faster action against potential safety threats.

“Community engagement through this digital platform strengthens cooperation between the police and the public, helping prevent crime and enhance overall safety,” he told reporters during a visit to the Ramadan Bazaar in front of NU Hotel here today.

Nixon added that police presence has been increased in crowded areas, adopting an “omnipresence” approach to ensure the bazaar remains safe.

He said officers also interact directly with visitors and traders to give crime prevention advice and monitor any suspicious activity for immediate response.

“This approach also boosts public confidence in the PDRM’s role in maintaining safety and public order,” he added.
