KUCHING: MBSB Bank Bhd has contributed RM85,000 to assist 340 Muslim students from underprivileged B40 families under the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions.

The contribution, part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to ease the financial burden of students pursuing technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri expressed appreciation to the bank for its generous contribution and continued commitment towards supporting students’ education and welfare.

“The contribution will greatly benefit students from B40 families by helping to ease their financial burden and allowing them to focus on their studies and skills development,” he said in his speech during the mock cheque presentation ceremony at Sarawak Skills Kuching.

Under the initiative, each student will receive RM250 in financial assistance.

The recipients comprise 155 students from Sarawak Skills Kuching, 44 from Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR), 16 from Sarawak Skills Sri Aman, 46 from Sarawak Skills Mukah, one from Sarawak Skills Bintulu, 62 from Sarawak Skills Miri and 16 from Sarawak Agriculture and Vocational Training Institute (SAVTI).

Hallman said initiatives such as this highlight the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners in supporting the development of a skilled and competent workforce.

“Sarawak Skills remains committed to providing quality TVET and will continue working closely with industry partners and organisations to ensure students are well supported throughout their educational journey while preparing them to meet the evolving demands of the workforce,” he added.
