MUKAH: Efforts by various government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to enliven the month of Ramadan through welfare and community programmes have been described as a commendable initiative that benefits the local community.
Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine said the involvement of multiple parties in assisting those in need not only helps ease their burden but also reflects the spirit of unity in embracing Ramadan.
“Thank you to all parties involved, especially in helping to ease the burden of those in need during this Ramadan.
“This is a commendable effort that reflects the commitment of all parties to ensure that Ramadan is not only filled with acts of worship, but also brings benefits to the community,” he said during the Imarah Ramadan Programme at Kem Belia Mukah 2026, held at Tone Cafe on Friday.
During the programme, 50 needy individuals received food baskets contributed by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED).
Royston also highlighted that Kem Belia Mukah now offers various recreational activities, including flying fox, wall climbing and kayaking, which are open to the public, particularly youths in the area.
Meanwhile, Kem Belia Mukah Principal, Satar Smawi said the facility has resumed full operations after being closed for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent upgrading works.
“For those interested, you may come to Kem Belia Mukah to try out the available activities,” he said.
Earlier, 600 food packs were distributed to the public during the Programme for the Distribution of Breaking-of-Fast Meals held in front of Kem Belia Mukah.
