MARUDI: The Mulu constituency has now been divided into four main development zones to streamline development planning in the rural areas.
According to UKAS reports, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, said the four development zones are Poyut Lubok Nibong Development (PPLN), Tutoh Area Development Committee, Kedaya Telang Usan Development, and the Bario Sub-District Socio Development Committee.
“This division aims to enable all Community Leaders and Tribal Chiefs (KMKK) to sit together to discuss and plan development covering wider areas in a comprehensive and organised manner,” he said.
He said this when officiating the Poyut Lubok Nibong Development (PPLN) 2026 Annual General Meeting held in Marudi town on Saturday (March 14).
Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, added that the establishment of these development platforms does not sideline the roles and responsibilities of existing KMKK leaders, but instead serves as an additional medium to strengthen cooperation and coordination of development at the area level.
According to him, the approach will also make it easier for government agencies to implement various development projects in the interior, particularly in the agriculture sector and the development of road infrastructure, which are highly needed by the local community.
