SIMANGGANG: The Sarawak government will carry out a drainage upgrading project covering five residential zones in Kampung Muhibbah, including the Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR) Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the project which covers seven locations will cost RM28 million.

“The funding for this project has already been approved and the design plans including the drainage outlets have been completed.

“The tender process is finished, and the next step is to hand over the contract documents to the winning contractor,” he said when officiating the Bantuan Sejambak Kasih programme organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Paya Jaya Selatan Kampung Muhibbah Sri Aman here today (Mar 16).

Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, confirmed that the drainage upgrade work at the seven sites will begin shortly after the contractor receives the contract documents.

“I will coordinate with the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to hold a dialogue with residents of the seven locations so they can receive a briefing on the drainage upgrade work in their areas,” he added.

During the event, JKKK Paya Jaya Selatan handed RM100 in cash to each of the 30 eligible recipients from their settlement.
