MIRI: Two men were injured in a road traffic collision involving two vehicles in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred at about 2.03am near a petrol station at Tamu Muhibbah here.
Firefighters from the Miri station, located about one kilometre away, arrived at the scene within a minute of receiving the distress call.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre, the vehicles had collided head-on, leaving two occupants trapped in the wreckage.
The injured men have been identified as Cyrill Sawing Matan, 25, and Chris Paren Elisa, 30. Both sustained injuries and were handed over to Ministry of Health personnel at the scene for further medical treatment.
Their current condition has not been disclosed.
The operation was brought under control at 2:44am, with crews remaining on site to clear debris and secure the area before concluding the response at 03:10.
A total of six firefighters and two emergency vehicles, including a Fire Rescue Tender and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, were deployed.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the collision. Investigations are ongoing.
