JAKARTA, Indonesia: Indonesia’s President, Prabowo Subianto, said recovery efforts in flood-hit Aceh Tamiang have reached nearly 100 per cent, marking significant progress following the devastating November floods and landslides.

He said the rapid progress reflects effective coordination among authorities, adding that recovery efforts are still ongoing in other affected areas across the country.

“There are no more people in tents, 100 per cent. Everyone has moved out of tents into temporary housing, and permanent housing has also begun.

“Electricity is almost entirely restored, nearly 100 per cent, with only five villages across Aceh remaining,” he was quoted as saying according to a statement issued by Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, on Saturday.

Earlier, Prabowo performed Aidilfitri prayers with residents at a mosque in a temporary housing area.

The President also said government assistance has been fully distributed to affected communities.

He also expressed appreciation to all personnel and agencies involved, including the military, police, disaster management authorities and local governments, for their swift response and dedication in assisting affected communities.

The floods in Aceh Tamiang were part of a wider disaster that hit several provinces in Sumatra last November, displacing thousands and damaging key infrastructure. – BERNAMA
