KUALA RAJANG: The Sarawak government has not wavered in its commitment to strengthen infrastructure and improve public well-being in the Kuala Rajang constituency.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that the implementation of every development project must be based on the actual needs of the people to ensure its benefits are felt comprehensively.
“Development that does not take into account the needs of the people will only be futile and lead to wastage,” he said during an Aidilfitri gathering organised by the Kuala Rajang Service Centre at the Kampung Jerijih Community Hall recently, which brought together more than 300 local residents.
Len, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said that findings from several government agencies in the Tanjong Manis district — covering Belawai, Rajang, Jerijih and Tanjong Manis town — show significant economic growth since the opening of the Tuanku Bujang Bridge.
He noted that the progress has been driven by the implementation of infrastructure projects such as road and bridge construction, which were planned based on the needs of the local population.
At the same time, he said the long-awaited Kampung Jerijih Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) project is expected to be completed soon, which will in turn create more opportunities for residential lot ownership among the people.
