KUCHING: Gabriel Palmero is no longer a Kuching City FC player after the club agreed to a mutual termination of his contract following recent developments surrounding his status.

KCFC president Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the decision was made after discussions with the player in light of the situation.

“After the decision was announced, we discussed with him and agreed to terminate the contract mutually,” he told reporters when met during the N6 Tupong Aidilfitri open house at Dewan Hikmah, here today (Mar 24).

He added that the termination took effect a few days after the announcement.

Fazzrudin revealed that Palmero had since travelled to Kuala Lumpur and will now pursue his own path following the agreement reached between both parties.

“We had earlier discussions before signing him, including the possibility of this issue arising, and based on that understanding, we reached a mutual agreement to part ways,” he said.

On squad planning, Fazzrudin said the club will leave recruitment matters entirely to head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, giving him full authority to determine the team’s needs.

“We give 100 per cent trust to the head coach to decide the strategy and direction of the team,” he added.

Kuching City are scheduled to play a friendly match against a Singapore side on Mar 28 as part of preparations for their Malaysia Cup quarter-final clash against Selangor FC on Apr 4.
