KAPIT: The Kapit Division is being steadily transformed into a high-potential growth area through the rollout of development projects exceeding RM1 billion.

This economic and social impact underscore the government’s ongoing commitment to uplift the peoples’ lives in the interior regions.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said Sarawak’s strong financial standing has enabled development initiatives to be implemented more dynamically, including through the establishment of the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) as a strategic driver for the region’s progress.

“Over RM1 billion has been allocated for Kapit’s development, covering major infrastructure such as a road project across Batang Rajang, a RM300 million bridge, a RM400 million road to Nanga Seranau, the RM100 million Kapit River bridge, and a new District Police Headquarters (IPD) costing RM132 million.

“In addition, the construction of a MARA Professional College is also planned to strengthen education and human capital development in this area, in addition to the installation of Starlink facilities to increase rural internet access,” he said during the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Jaceline Lia here recently.

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, urged the people to remain united and be prepared for any eventuality, including the upcoming state election, to ensure continued development and a more prosperous future for the division.

At the event, he also announced allocations of RM30,000 for the construction of storage facilities and a kitchen, as well as RM15,000 for the JKKK to support community initiatives.
