BELAWAI: The public have been urged to rely on official channels when raising issues or complaints as the spread of unverified information on social media could cause confusion and delay action.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh stressed that strong cooperation between the community and government agencies is essential to ensure accurate information reaches the relevant authorities promptly.
He cautioned that sharing unverified content online may hinder efforts to resolve issues efficiently.
“At the village level, community leaders and local chiefs play an important role as a bridge between the people and the government in conveying any complaints or grievances,” he said at an Aidilfitri celebration at the Tanjung Manis IKS hall here yesterday.
Len Talif added that several development initiatives are underway and in the pipeline for the Belawai area, including an RM8.5 million ‘Anjung Usahawan’ project aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs in marketing their products.
He also highlighted the proposed 2km coastal embankment or waterfront development at Pantai Belawai, with an estimated cost of RM164 million, which is currently in its final planning stage and expected to boost the local tourism sector.
Efforts to enhance connectivity are also being prioritised, including the upgrading of the Tanjung Manis Airport to complement existing infrastructure in the area.
He said these initiatives reflect the Sarawak government’s commitment to improving the well-being of the people and ensuring they continue to benefit from ongoing development efforts.
The event, organised by the Kuala Rajang Service Centre, drew about 350 residents and was held in a lively atmosphere in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
