SIBU: The Youth and Sports Division Office (PBSB Sibu) here on Thursday (March 26) presented the registration certificate to the newly registered sports club, Fanatic Pickleball Club (FPC).
The presentation ceremony was officiated by PBSB Sibu sports development officer, Terence Tan, who handed over the certificate to FPC president, Lau Pi Leong.
FPC’s press release stated that the ceremony marked an important achievement for the local sports community, where FPC has now been officially recognised as a legitimate sports body under the supervision of the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia.
With this registration certificate, the club now has a legal identity that allows them to carry out sports activities in a more organised and professional manner at the community, divisional and state levels.
Apart from the certificate presentation session, PBSB Sibu also provided a brief briefing on the next steps that need to be taken by the club management.
Tan stressed the importance of good governance compliance, including the responsibility to submit annual reports through the EROSA system to ensure the club’s active status is always maintained.
The briefing aimed to provide a clear understanding to club committee members about their roles after registration.
In the same meeting, Tan also provided exposure on various initiatives and funds provided under the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).
Among the items touched upon were opportunities to apply for grants and funding assistance for organising sports development programmes or community activities.
Through these funds, Tan said KBS hopes that more sports bodies can mobilise programmes that can uncover new talents and promote an active lifestyle among the local community.
On behalf of PBSB Sibu, he congratulated FPC on the official registration, and hoped that this recognition will be a catalyst for the club to continue to elevate the sport of pickleball in Sibu and produce athletes with great potential in the future.
