KUALA LUMPUR: Saudi Arabia’s Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh, has called for stronger support for local companies in the kingdom’s rapidly growing entertainment sector.
He highlighted the sector’s investment potential and emphasised the importance of fostering international partnerships to support its development.
According to a statement by Benchmark, a company specialising in event management in Saudi Arabia, Al-Sheikh, while speaking at the opening of its new headquarters in Jeddah recently, also called for the company to enhance their role in content productions while fully leveraging the new facilities for theatre, cultural activities, and other initiatives.
International estimates indicate the Saudi entertainment market is growing rapidly, driven by rising domestic spending and increasing demand for cultural and live events.
This initiative forms part of a broader strategy under Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy, reduce reliance on oil, and position the entertainment sector as a key driver of non-oil economic growth, the statement added. – BERNAMA
