SARIKEI: A total of 32 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) received allocations under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) Grant for the Sarikei Parliament and Repok constituency.
The presentation ceremony took place at Repok Service Centre and was officiated by Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
Out of the total recipients, 19 organisations were from the Sarikei area, while another 13 were from Bintangor.
According to Huang, the contributions demonstrate that the Sarawak Government remains attentive to the needs of NGOs in carrying out various activities for the benefit of the community.
“I hope that all organisations receiving this allocation will fully utilise the contributions for beneficial purposes,” he said.
He added that NGOs need to play a more proactive role in organising programmes that involve participation from various segments of society.
He said NGOs should strive to empower communities in various aspects, including welfare, education, economic, and social development.
