IPOH: Sarawak is strengthening efforts to adopt innovative and sustainable construction materials for its infrastructure development.

A delegation led by Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel visited the Dura Factory (DURA) in Chemor on Tuesday (Mar 31).

The official visit formed part of the state government’s broader initiative to explore advanced technologies that can enhance efficiency, reduce costs and support long-term development.

During the visit, the delegation gained insights into advanced composite technologies and modern manufacturing processes employed by DURA, whose products are known for their durability, corrosion resistance and cost efficiency.

They were also briefed on the application of DURA products in various infrastructure projects, including bridges and industrial facilities, followed by a technical walkthrough of the production line showcasing the company’s capabilities in delivering high-performance and sustainable construction solutions.

DURA products also contribute to lower carbon emissions due to their durability and reduced lifecycle maintenance, aligning with efforts to promote greener infrastructure development.

In his remarks, Dr Abdullah emphasised the importance of embracing innovation to ensure Sarawak’s infrastructure remains sustainable, cost-effective and resilient, particularly in addressing the state’s unique geographical and environmental challenges.

He added that collaboration between government agencies and industry players is crucial in identifying practical solutions that can be adopted in current and future projects.
