SIBU: Sibu Hospital received a donation of 80 units of ceiling fans today, donated by two businessmen through its Board of Visitors, to replace old and broken ones.

The donation was presented by Steven Wong Ha Kiang and Lau Kiung Hui to Sibu Hospital Director, Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu, and his deputy, Dr Nizam Ishak.

Also present was the Sibu Hospital Board of Visitors’ Chairman, Michael Lee.

According to Dr Nanthakumar, Sibu Hospital has approximately 24 wards and many other waiting areas for patients, where ceiling fans are broken in some places.

“So we are requesting through the Sibu Hospital’s Board of Visitors, and Lee as the chairman has arranged to get donors for 80 units of ceiling fans to be given to the hospital today.

“We will install them in all areas in the wards, waiting areas and places where they are needed, because there are several ceiling fans that are old and need to be replaced.

“This will provide comfort to patients and officers to carry out their duties,” he said while expressing his gratitude to all parties who arranged and donated the ceiling fans involved.

Meanwhile, Lee appealed to the public to contribute sincerely to all the needs requested for the benefit of patients seeking treatment at Sibu Hospital.

He also said that the next task that will be carried out is to obtain water filters.

“For me, this is a very important basic need. Like water filters, everyone needs them,” he reiterated.
