SRI AMAN: A four-day anti-drug operation by police here has led to the arrest of 15 men, all of whom tested positive for methamphetamine.

The operation, carried out under Op Tapis Khas Sarawak by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) here also saw 18 investigation papers opened against the suspects.

Sri Aman police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said three cases are being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of syabu, while 15 others fall under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug use.

He added that operations were conducted in several locations, including the Maludam administrative area and around Sri Aman town.

“Initial urine screening found that all suspects tested positive for syabu,” he said in a statement.

According to him, the three possession cases will be brought before the Sri Aman Magistrate’s Court.

“The operation, conducted over four days, had yielded positive results and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to intensifying efforts in combating drug abuse,” he said.

He also urged members of the public to come forward with information on drug-related activities by contacting the nearest police station.
