LUNDU: Plans to relocate and upgrade the IPD Lundu police station have emerged as a key development priority in the district, alongside several government initiatives affecting infrastructure, child welfare, and civil service policies.

The proposed relocation was highlighted following an official visit by the Member of Parliament for P193 Santubong, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri,  who met with the District Police Chiefm Supt Sudirman Kram, to assess the current facility and discuss future needs.

Nancy said, two potential sites have been identified for the new police station, both located near CENTEXS Lundu,  although neither has been officially confirmed.

“As the land falls under state jurisdiction, approvals must follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), including state-level endorsement.

“The project is part of a broader infrastructure push, with a significant allocation earmarked for upgrading police facilities.

“This includes the demolition of existing wooden structures and the construction of a modern concrete building to better serve the district’s growing needs,” she said when met by the reporters during her work visit to IPD Lundu, this morning.

Nancy, who is also Minister for Women, Family and Community Development also said, a RM12-million allocation has already been approved for the Balai Polis Sematan under IPD Lundu, reflecting continued investment in law enforcement infrastructure in the area.

She also said nearly RM1 million (approximately RM836,101) for renewable energy and infrastructure between 2023 and 2025 has been allocated for infrastructure and renewable energy initiatives, including solar lighting and canopy systems.

“Funding proposals will be channelled through the Ministry of Home Affairs via Members of Parliament, followed by planning reviews and state government approval for land use,” she said.

Also present at the event, Yayasan Kebajikan Negara’s Chief Executive Officer, Nordina Haron; Federal Deputy Director for Social Welfare Department, Mohd Ali Taib; Deputy Lundu District Police Chief, DSP Mordani Tanin; and others.
