KUCHING: Kuching Association for Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN) introduced its new leadership and explored collaboration with Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development Fatimah Abdullah on programmes supporting individuals with special needs.
The association paid the courtesy call on Fatimah on April 2, led by its advisor Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok and newly elected president Sugi Kueh, together with executive committee members and coordinators for the 2026–2028 term.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation with the ministry in advancing initiatives that nurture the talents and wellbeing of individuals with special needs in Kuching.
During the meeting, the association also formally invited Fatimah to serve as its patron.
KATSN shared updates on its initiatives under “The Gifted Stations”, which provide skills development platforms in areas such as culinary arts, handicrafts, sports, arts and sewing.
Both parties also discussed strengthening collaboration to further support the development and potential of individuals with special needs through inclusive programmes and community engagement efforts.
Fatimah expressed appreciation for the association’s continued commitment to improving the wellbeing of special groups and encouraged closer cooperation to create more opportunities for the community.opportunities for the special needs community.
