SERIAN: About 200 aspiring entrepreneurs in the district registered their businesses during the “Jum Regista Bisnes” programme held at the Serian Conference Centre here today.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said the programme not only facilitated business registration but also provided exposure to business management and available financial assistance.

As such, he encouraged more entrepreneurs to register their businesses so they can remain active and competitive in the current economic landscape.

John speaks during the programme.

“Entrepreneurs must continuously upgrade their skills in line with evolving economic and technological developments.

“The Sarawak government will continue to support entrepreneurs, whether through financial assistance, skills training or the development of business infrastructure suited to local needs.

“I believe that if entrepreneurs remain committed to improving themselves and enhancing their products or service delivery, they will be able to compete at the global level,” he said when officiating the event.

On the same note, John said a total of 5,924 entrepreneurs statewide have benefitted from the programme so far.

He added that the last time the programme was held in Serian was in 2022, during which 125 new businesses were successfully registered.

“Through this programme, we are also proud that newly registered entrepreneurs from Serian will have the opportunity to expand their businesses and market their products to a higher level.

“This is made possible through assistance not only from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment but also from other related entrepreneurial agencies.”
