KANOWIT: A 51-year-old man who was reported missing after heading to his farm behind a longhouse in Rantau Dilang here was found dead today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim, identified as Alam Entri, was found at 3.28 pm by family members along a different route from his usual farm area.

“Initial checks found the victim unresponsive, and his body was left at the scene pending confirmation by medical personnel on police instructions,” a Bomba spokesperson said in a statement.

Health clinic personnel later arrived and confirmed the victim’s death at about 5 pm.

The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

Earlier, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched at 11.27 am, involving personnel from Bomba, police, the Civil Defence Force (APM), and villagers.

Upon arrival, rescuers gathered information from family members before dividing into three search teams.

“The teams began their search from the longhouse towards the victim’s farm, located about two kilometres away, before continuing along three separate routes within the plantation area,” it said.

The search covered an estimated four-kilometre radius from the farm.

The victim was last seen leaving his home at about 8 am on Monday with two dogs.

“At about 11 am, both dogs returned to the house, but the victim did not,” it added.
