KUCHING: The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board (SSWFFB) has initiated its 2025 investment strategy with allocations of about USD850 million into global fixed-income assets and RM1.6 billion into domestic bonds.

Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie said this development marks the fund’s transition from its foundational phase to the implementation phase, reflecting significant progress in its investment journey.

“These initial investments reflect our guiding principle of capital preservation, while gradually building a diversified portfolio over time.”

He said this during the SSWFFB Hari Raya gathering, which was graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly complex on Wednesday (April 8).

He added that SSWFFB has also been accepted as an Associate Member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, placing it within a global network of sovereign investors committed to high standards of governance, transparency and responsible investment practices.

Elaborating further, he said that 2026 will mark a new phase in SSWFFB’s investment journey, with a focus on gradually expanding its portfolio to include global public equities and various asset classes, in line with its risk tolerance and long-term investment direction.

According to him, this approach will be implemented in a structured and disciplined manner to ensure a balance between generating long-term returns and maintaining sustainable fund management principles across generations.

“Ultimately, our objective remains clear — to preserve and grow long-term value for the benefit of future generations of Sarawakians.”
