KUALA LUMPUR: National professional men’s doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, crashed out early from the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) after losing in the first round in Ningbo, China, on Wednesday.
In the match held at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre, the tournament’s seventh seeds were defeated 22-24, 21-18, 11-21 by Thailand’s Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn-Worrapol Thongsa-nga.
Another national men’s doubles pair, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, also lost to China’s He Ji Tang-Ren Xiang Yu 18-21, 18-21.
Meanwhile, national women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah advanced to the next round after defeating Hong Kong’s Fan Ka Yan-Yau Mau Ying 21-14, 21-11.
Awaiting Pearly-Thinaah in the second round are Taiwan’s Hsu Yin Hui-Lin Jhih Yun.
National women’s singles player, K Letshanaa, also progressed to the second round after overcoming India’s Tanvi Sharma 21-19, 21-14.
Letshanaa will face South Korea’s Sim Yu Jin, who defeated China’s fifth seed, Han Yue, 16-21, 21-10, 21-15.
Another national women’s singles representative, Goh Jin Wei, failed to advance after losing to Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki 12-21, 15-21.
