KUALA LUMPUR: Travellers flying between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan during the Gawai and Kaamatan festive period will receive a RM50 rebate on flight tickets.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the initiative, which runs from May 15 to June 14, is expected to benefit about 100,000 passengers.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has allocated RM5 million to fund the programme.

“The initiative supports the sustainability of the aviation industry while easing travel costs for the public, especially for work, education and family-related travel,” he said at a press conference at his ministry today (Apr 14).

Loke added that the government remains committed to keeping public transport accessible and affordable.

He also announced that the payment credit period for airline fees and charges will be extended from 30 to 60 days, effective May 1, 2026, to help improve cash flow.

“This adjustment will provide some relief to airlines over a two-month period, and it has been positively received following our engagement with industry players,” he said.
