KUCHING: Sarawak’s cricket development efforts are receiving a boost with the arrival of two Australian high-performance coaches for a specialised training programme currently underway here.
The initiative, organised by the Sarawak Cricket Association in collaboration with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, Rising Roos Australia and MAC Sports, runs from Apr 15 to 20.
High-performance batting coach Richard Clifton and strength and conditioning coach Jason Cox are conducting a four to five-day programme involving selected young players from the state.
The programme aims to expose local cricketers to international training standards while enhancing their technical and physical development.
Clifton, a high-performance batting coach who has worked with Australian international star Glenn Maxwell, brings extensive experience in elite player development.
Meanwhile, Cox, a strength and conditioning specialist and founder of High Performance Cricket (HPC), has also worked with top-level players including Maxwell and Aaron Finch.
The training programme focuses on key areas such as advanced batting techniques, fast bowling performance, athletic conditioning and match awareness.
It forms part of the Sarawak Cricket Association’s long-term efforts to raise the standard of cricket in the state and develop future talents.
