KUCHING: The Sarawak Umrah and Hajj Association (SUHA) is intensifying their role as an important coordination and advisory intermediary within Sarawak’s umrah and hajj ecosystem.
SUHA Chairman, Ruzaiman Ghazalee, shared that several initiatives have been undertaken to support the welfare of pilgrims and ease their journeys through various collaborations, including the Sarawak Umrah and Islamic Tour Expo (SUITEX) 2026.
“The expo is scheduled to take place in Miri this July, and is set to become a key platform bringing together relevant agencies, industry players, and the general public to obtain information and guidance related to the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage,” he said during a press conference in conjunction with Rumah Terbuka Aidilfitri SUHA at YUCCA, Jalan Depo, here today (April 18).
He added that apart from providing comprehensive exposure to the public, SUITEX is also seen as a proactive step in supporting the development of the Islamic tourism industry in this state.
At the same time, SUHA also plans to hold a series of roadshows in several rural areas around Sarawak.
SUHA’s treasurer, Wan Zakaria Wan Yusuf, pointed out that the roadshow aims to bring information closer to the community directly, especially for those who have constraints in attending large-scale programmes.
“We will begin in Sematan and Lundu, with plans to extend the programme to Miri and Limbang, each location hosting it for two days,” he said.
The association added that it would continue to strengthen cooperation with Az Safir Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, an agency entrusted with organising the hajj under Tabung Haji to enhance efforts to benefit the Muslim community in Sarawak.
