KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Students’ Global Alliance (MSGA) has strengthened Malaysia’s youth presence on the international stage through its participation in the Commonwealth Youth Development Summit 2026 (CYDS 2026), held at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
In a statement on Wednesday, MSGA said its Head of Advocacy and Policy, Sharvin Thangaraj, represented Malaysia at the summit, held from April 9 to 11, which brought together 120 youth leaders, policymakers and institutions from across the Commonwealth.
“His participation marks a significant milestone for MSGA as the organisation continues to champion the voices of more than 54,000 Malaysian students across 16 countries at the global level,” the statement said.
MSGA said Sharvin delivered a keynote presentation during the Delegate Session, advocating inclusive youth participation frameworks and calling for greater representation of rural and marginalised communities in governance and policymaking.
“True youth representation begins when every voice is not only heard, but recognised in the policies that shape our future,” Sharvin said, reflecting on his experience at the summit.
Meanwhile, MSGA President and Chief Executive Officer, Muhd Fareed Shah, expressed pride in Sharvin’s achievement and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to elevating Malaysian youth voices globally.
“As an organisation representing over 54,000 Malaysian students across 16 countries, it is our responsibility to ensure Malaysia is not only present in these discussions, but actively shaping them,” he said. – BERNAMA
