MIRI: The spirit of unity and cooperation among government agencies was further strengthened through the Miri Division Kongsi Raya gathering which was held at the lobby of the Sarawak Islamic Complex here on Thursday (Apr 23).
The event saw the participation of 21 government departments and institutions in the Miri Division, each setting up its own booth and offering a variety of traditional and modern dishes to guests.
The event was officiated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his spouse Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
In his speech, Abu Bakar commended the organisation of the programme, noting that it not only celebrates cultural diversity but also serves as an excellent platform for civil servants from various agencies to interact in a relaxed setting.
He said such gatherings reflect the social harmony that forms a crucial foundation for the stability and progress of Sarawak.
Throughout the event, he also took time to visit each departmental booth, mingling with staff and sampling the dishes prepared.
The event was further enlivened by various cultural performances, including the ngajat dance, traditional drum performances, and creatively decorated booths featuring festive themes.
Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datuk Felicia Tan, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee, Miri Division Resident Galong Luang, heads of departments, as well as community and local leaders.
