PANTU: A trailer lorry driver died in an accident at KM59 Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching yesterday morning.

Sri Aman District Police chief, DSP Othman Sulaiman said the victim was identified as Wee Ah Tee, from Rumah Augustine Sait, Gran Limu here.

He said in the incident that occurred at around 7.50am, the victim and his attendant were heading to Kuching from Sri Aman when he suddenly fainted upon reaching the scene in Pantu area.

“According to the victim’s attendant, Wee who was driving at the time suddenly lost consciousness and as a result, their lorry swerved to the right and crashed into a hill by the roadside,” he said.

Othman said Wee was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

He said the body was taken to Sri Aman Hospital for a post mortem.

He added that the attendant, Jee Shin Kuet, from Kampung Sabu here, was not injured in the incident.

This case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987, said Othman.
