Sarawak Premier conveys condolences over former Chief Imam’s passing

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Datuk Ustaz Nahrawi Abdul Rahman, former Chief Imam of Sarawak, who has passed away.

In a statement, Abang Johari also prayed that the late Nahrawi’s soul be blessed with mercy and be placed among those who are faithful and righteous.

The late Nahrawi was known as a religious figure who made significant contributions in strengthening the institution of imams in Sarawak, while also playing an important role in the development of the Muslim community through a wise approach to dakwah and credible leadership.

Throughout his service, he held the position of Chief Imam of Sarawak from 2000 to 2009, a period that saw various efforts to strengthen religious institutions and develop the character of society.

He was reported to have passed away on AprIL 25 at a hospital in Kuching at the age of 89.
