KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid their last respects to the late Datuk Nahwari Abdul Rahman at his residence in Kampung Demak Baru at 10.30 am today (Apr 26).
Upon their arrival, Wan Junaidi and his wife were received by the deceased’s son, Helmi Nahrawi, who is the Senior Assistant Director of the JAIS Corporate Communications Unit, alongside other family members.
Wan Junaidi later joined family members and dignitaries in performing the funeral prayers (solat jenazah), which was led by Helmi.
The late Nahrawi, who served as the Grand Imam of Sarawak from 2000 to 2009, passed away at 7.42 pm on Saturday night (Apr 25) at the Borneo Medical Centre.
During the visit, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah expressed their deepest condolences to the widow of the deceased, Datin Hamdiah Sahmat, and her family.
They also shared their profound sadness over the loss of a prominent figure in the Muslim community and prayed for the family’s strength and resilience during this difficult time.
Also present were Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Tanjung Manis MP Datuk Yusuf Abdul Wahab.
