KUCHING: A 26-year-old bedridden man who has relied on tube feeding for the past decade has received renewed support through a collaboration between Hope Place Kuching and Kelab Kebajikan Ekspedisi 4×4 Sarawak.

Ronaido Lim, who lives with his parents and brother at Demak Laut, has been confined to bed since a car accident at the age of 16.

His mother, Runin, 55, is the family’s sole breadwinner, working as a cleaner, while his father is retired.

Although Ronaido receives RM500 monthly assistance from the Social Welfare Department, the family continues to face financial strain due to high medical and daily living expenses.

Hope Place, which has been assisting Ronaido since 2016, recently welcomed support from the 4×4 charity club, which pledged to contribute five cans of special milk supplements each month.

The contribution, valued at approximately RM500 monthly or RM6,000 annually, will continue for as long as the club is able to sustain the aid.

Ronaido, his parents, together with Hope Place & 4×4 Charity Club.

The club’s chairman, Lai King Kung, said its charitable efforts are funded through 4×4 competition events, member contributions and sponsorships.

“Our main source of funding comes from organising 4×4 competitions, where participants showcase their skills in overcoming challenging obstacles,

These contributions allow us to extend assistance to those in need,” he said.

He also called on the public to support the club’s initiatives to ensure continued outreach to vulnerable communities.

Meanwhile, Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan described the collaboration as meaningful.

“The organisation currently supports 20 bedridden individuals, which places a significant financial burden on its resources,” he said.

He added that the club’s commitment serves as an example in bringing hope to those in need.
