KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has paid his last respects to the late Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Dr Yong Sau Kan at her residence here today (Apr 27).
Abang Johari’s visit at 3.20 pm on Monday was a gesture of appreciation and respect for her significant contributions and services to the community.
Welcoming the Premier at the late’s residence in Jalan Tabuan here were her two children, Dr Wong Chee May and Wong Chee Ling.
Dr Yong, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 100, was the wife of the late Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai.
Throughout her life, she was widely recognised as a prominent Sarawak woman figure and a steadfast supporter of her husband’s political journey since he joined the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) in 1978.
She is scheduled to be laid to rest at Nirvana Cemetery, Bau on Apr 28.
