KUCHING: About 700 alumni are expected to gather at a major fundraising dinner on July 11 organised by the Ex-Tanjong Lubang Student Welfare Association to support student welfare and community programmes.
The event, known as the Ex-TLS Union TLC and CUM Fundraising Dinner, is also expected to be attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun, along with cabinet members, community leaders and invited guests.
Organisers said the initiative aims to strengthen the association’s financial capacity to sustain welfare assistance and charitable outreach for students and local communities, following years of limited resources.
“Due to funding constraints in the past, many of our activities could not be carried out fully. Through this dinner, we hope to expand our support programmes and reach more beneficiaries,” they said.
Participants will include former students from various graduating cohorts of Tanjong Lubang College and Tanjong Lubang School in Miri, making it one of the association’s largest alumni gatherings to date.
The programme will feature specially curated performances highlighting shared school experiences, alongside a grand lucky draw aimed at boosting participation and engagement among attendees.
The association is also appealing to corporate organisations, businesses and individuals to contribute through sponsorships, prize donations, table purchases or direct financial support.
Organisers expressed confidence the dinner would help secure longer-term funding for welfare initiatives while reinforcing alumni networks and community engagement.
