SIBU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof has pledged to review and support the long-awaited construction of a new Masjid Darul Firdaus following a Subuh prayer visit with congregants at Jalan Apollo here today (27 April).

Fadillah, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, joined the early morning prayer before being briefed on the status of the proposed mosque project, which has been pending for six years.

He said the development should reflect the needs of the local Muslim community and assured that the matter would receive attention at the appropriate level.

Earlier, Imam 1 Syed Zian delivered a short religious reminder highlighting the importance of consistent good deeds, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.

Mosque chairman Junaidi Mohamad Mokhtar later presented a token of appreciation to Fadillah in recognition of his visit and continued engagement with the local community.

Also present were New Mosque Development Committee chairman Hamzah A. Beraan and Rukun Tetangga Apollo Deshon chairman Mohamad Hafiq Abang Kassim.

The programme concluded with a light breakfast session at the mosque’s multipurpose hall, followed by a visit to the proposed construction site, where congregants expressed renewed hope the project would proceed smoothly.
