SAMARAHAN: The newly upgraded Perpustakaan Desa Kampung Pinang is expected to serve as a valuable knowledge hub for residents, particularly students and young learners in the area.
The library, officiated by State Legislative Assembly’s Deputy Speaker, Datuk Idris Buang, aims to improve access to reading materials and encourage a culture of learning in the village.

Village head, Mohamad Gani, said the facility would benefit not only students but also the wider community.
He said the library is an alternative place for learning beyond the classroom, allowing users to expand their knowledge in areas not covered in school.
He also expressed hope that the library would become a centre for community interaction, where residents can gather and strengthen relationships, adding that the village leadership would support activities held at the facility.

Library attendant, Suria Mohammad, welcomed the upgrade, explaining that the previous wooden structure had been replaced with a more durable building to better accommodate users.
“I am happy because the library has been upgraded to a better building compared to before,” she said.
She added that the library provides a variety of reading materials suitable for both children and adults, including novels and practical books.
The facility also serves as a space for community activities and programmes.

Suria noted that books are updated annually through government support, with plans to further improve facilities such as computers and equipment in the future.
Meanwhile, villager Hasbi Suhaili who described the initiative as a proud moment for the community said the library is expected to benefit students in particular by supporting their learning.
“I believe it will help children, especially students, to gain more knowledge,” he said.
