KOTA SAMARAHAN: The ‘Pesta Terubuk Lan Berami Nge Sadong 2026’ event will be held from May 22 to 24 in Sadong Jaya, featuring cultural, entrepreneurial and community-based activities aimed at promoting the identity and heritage of the local community.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Chairman, Abang Ismawi Abang Ali, said the festival is a collaborative initiative between MPKS and the N.24 Sadong Jaya Service Centre.

“The programme is intended to elevate and preserve the unique identity of the Sadong community through activities centred on culture, local heritage, entrepreneurship and traditional games,” he said during a press conference at the MPKS Public Library today (May 8).

Abang Ismawi said the highlight of the festival would be the Terubuk Fish Festival, which will take place on the final day of the event following its official opening by Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, who is also Sadong Jaya assemblyman, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo.

A special terubuk fish sale will also be organised, where visitors can receive RM10 discount vouchers for purchases made during the promotion.

Abang Ismawi explained that the name ‘Lan Berami Nge Sadong’, which means ‘come together in Sadong’, reflects the spirit of unity and harmony among the multi-racial communities living in Sadong and its surrounding areas.

He added that 12 government agencies have confirmed participation in the event exhibition, which will run for two days from Saturday to Sunday.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP) and jointly organised with Sarawak National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) N24 Sadong Jaya.

Also present were MPKS Deputy Chairman, Councillor Dailly Joseph; MPKS Municipal Secretary, Gustian Durani; and MPKS Community Development Committee Chairman, Dr Sufian Bujang.
