KUCHING: Three points are firmly in sight for Kuching City FC’s Youth Cup side as they gear up for a tough season opener against Penang FC at Stadium Negeri, Petra Jaya, on Saturday afternoon (May 9) at 4:00 pm.

While it may still be early to set firm expectations without fully assessing the visitors’ strength, the home side will be banking on home advantage to make a strong start to the new season.

Head coach, Joseph Kalang Tie said a positive result remains the priority for the opening fixture.

According to Joseph, playing on home soil must be fully capitalised on.

“Tomorrow afternoon (May 9) is our first match and of course a positive result is what we want. In other words, we are aiming for the full three points,” Joseph told Sarawak Tribune.

He added that there will be no easy task for his starting eleven in achieving the desired outcome.

“The visiting team are also well prepared for this afternoon’s game. I have reminded the players to stay focused, avoid making simple mistakes, and most importantly, be smart in capitalising on any chances that come,” he said.

The former Harimau Malaya player also confirmed that he will field his strongest possible lineup to handle the challenge from the visitors.

The Kuching City FC Youth Cup squad this season features a promising group of young talents aiming to make their mark.
