Sarawak divers strike gold, silver at MIAG Championships

KUCHING: Sarawak claimed gold in the Mixed Platform Synchro (Open) event after Muhd Hijri Rayyan and Cecelia Olivia delivered a winning performance at the 61st MILO/PRAM MIAG Diving Championships 2026 here today (May 9).

Competing at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, 13-year-old Hijri and 15-year-old Cecelia accumulated 226.71 points to emerge champions in the closely contested event.

Their composed execution and consistency across the rounds enabled them to finish ahead of Pulau Pinang’s Lim Zhong Thern and Nur Aryna Balqis, who settled for silver with 216.63 points.

Bronze went to Selangor’s Muhd Haziq Muizzudin and Uzlifatil Jannah after the pair scored 213.24 points.

Meanwhile, Sarawak also secured silver in the Mixed 3m Springboard Synchro (Open) event through Awang Sharzan Nasrin and Dayang Nursharzyra.

The home pair produced a steady display throughout the competition, collecting 226.41 points across five dives to finish second overall.

Their routines kept them firmly in podium contention from the early stages, with strong execution in the later rounds helping them maintain their advantage over the chasing teams.

Selangor’s Uzlifatil Jannah and Muhd Aeriel Riezqi claimed gold after topping the standings with 232.83 points.

Pulau Pinang’s Afraz Miqael and Nur Ikmas Darwisyah completed the podium with bronze on 207.09 points.
