KUCHING: The Kuching Festival Food Fair 2026 received 803 applications, reflecting sustained strong demand for one of the city’s most popular annual events.
The ballot session for successful applicants under the Premium, Single and Half Stall categories was held at Kuching South City Council (MBKS), where stall allocations for the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2026 were decided.
Kuching South Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, said the response highlighted the growing public confidence in the festival as a key annual attraction.
He said the Kuching Festival Food Fair had become one of the city’s signature events, showcasing its gastronomy, multicultural heritage and community spirit.
The Kuching Festival Food Fair 2026 will run from July 22 to August 16 and will feature 323 stalls, including 92 Premium, 55 Single and 146 Half Stalls.
It will also include 25 Double Stalls, one Chinese Home Cook Delicacy Corner, one Drinks Stall, and three Beer Stalls.
“The Kuching Festival Food Fair has become one of the most anticipated annual events in Kuching and continues to play an important role in promoting our city’s gastronomy, multicultural heritage, and strong community spirit,” he said.
Wee said the event brought together food operators and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds which offered a wide range of local delicacies, traditional dishes, and modern food creations reflecting Kuching’s food culture.
He said the fair also supported small businesses and food and beverage entrepreneurs by providing a platform to expand market reach and contribute to the local economy and tourism sector.
“Applications for the 2026 edition closed on April 19. This strong response reflects the confidence and continued support from the public towards the Kuching Festival Food Fair as one of the city’s premier annual events,” he said.
Wee said MBKS remained committed to ensuring smooth organisation of the festival. He expects strong local and international participation.
