KUCHING: Four police personnel attached to the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) guard unit received letters of appreciation for their vigilance and swift action in arresting two suspects found with suspected drugs.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner, DCP Saifullizan Ishak, presented the commendations to Corporal Johnny Well Piau, Constable Mustaghfirin Fathullah Basri, Constable Hafizul Bakeri and Constable Wan Fazlie Jiman.

“This success demonstrates the high level of discipline and efficiency maintained by Sarawak IPK guard personnel,” he said in a statement.

The arrests were made at about 12:30 pm on May 5 at the IPK guard post when the personnel on duty noticed two men behaving suspiciously within the IPK compound.

One of the suspects was a courier driver. A check on a sling bag led to the discovery of suspected drugs.

The seizure included 27 packets of crystalline substances, a packet of compressed green plant material believed to be cannabis, and foil packets containing 10 pills.

Both suspects were handed over to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) for further action under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
