SIBU: The Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) has expressed its continued commitment to strengthen the quality of services to residents of Sibu Jaya in cognizant with the rapid development in the area over the past decade.
Its chairman, Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, said that the increase in population, development of the business sector and growth of housing areas in Sibu Jaya require a more efficient, systematic and quality service delivery from the local authorities.
He asserted that SRDC will continue to do its utmost best to ensure the well-being of the community.
“We are committed to providing the best services to the local residents. At the same time, close cooperation with various agencies such as the police, fire department and the developer, namely Sibu Jaya Amcorp, continues to be prioritised to further improve the quality of services to the community,” he said at the Pre-Gawai 2026 Dinner organised by SDRC which took place at Sibu Jaya Youth Centre on Friday (May 15).
Commenting further, Sempurai stressed that the spirit of cooperation between agencies and the community is very important in ensuring that service delivery can be implemented effectively and comprehensively.
He said that the responsibility of local authorities is not only focused on the aspect of physical development, but also involves efforts to build social well-being through the support by various parties.
He also stressed that the Pre-Gawai event is the best platform to strengthen unity among the diverse community in Sibu Jaya consisting of various races and religions.
“Sibu Jaya is inhabited by a multi-racial community and this uniqueness needs to continue to be celebrated through programmes like this. Whether it is Chinese New Year, Hari Raya or Gawai, the celebrations reflect the strong spirit of unity among the community here,” he said.
