KUCHING: Sarawak’s Wan Muhammad Zulfahmi Wan Ridzaudin made his mark in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, clinching double silver in the Boys 13 category at the YSD BMX Series 1 & 2 against a strong international field.

The two-day competition, held on May 9-10 at Arena BMX Nilai, featured a competitive lineup of riders from China, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Singapore, alongside Malaysia’s top riders from various states.

The event provided a high-level testing ground for local athletes to measure themselves against regional and international competition.

Sarawak’s challenge at the series was led by Coach Ariana Nurminda Arifin, with support from Coach Siti Harleny Abdul Hadi, who oversaw rider preparation and race-day execution throughout the series.

Zulfahmi stood out as the most consistent performer for the Sarawak contingent, delivering two strong rides in the Boys 13 category.

In both Series 1 and Series 2, he secured silver medals after finishing just behind a rider from China, underlining his ability to stay competitive in high-pressure international races.

His back-to-back podium finishes reflected both resilience and progression, as he adapted quickly to the pace and demands of elite-level BMX racing.

Elsewhere, Sarawak riders also gained valuable exposure across multiple categories, with several athletes showing progress over the two-day meet.

In the Boys 15 category, Ahmad Zafry Akhtar Ahmad Jumry finished sixth in Series 1 before improving to fifth in Series 2, showing steady progression in performance.

In the Boys 12 category, Ahmad Zharif Ahza Ahmad Jumry reached the Final 7 in both Series 1 and Series 2, maintaining consistency across the competition.

Nur Aleeya Qalesya Zickry Azizan (Girls 11-12) also impressed by advancing through the moto rounds in Series 1 before securing a Final 7 finish in Series 2.
