SARAWAK Skills is playing a key role in strengthening Sarawak’s technical workforce pipeline amid rapid expansion in advanced manufacturing, green energy and future mobility sectors.

Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said Sarawak Skills had trained 78 professionals in specialised hydrogen fuel cell programmes involving key industry partners.

“The participants included personnel from Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy, Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak and other strategic stakeholders supporting the hydrogen economy agenda” he said this in his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 18).

He added that collaborations with Malaysian-French Institute for Research in Oil Palm (M-FICORD), Malaysian Palm Oil Board Institute of Perfection and Accreditation Centre (IMPAC) and plantation industry partners further strengthened agro-technology and rural employability initiatives.

“These programmes aimed to enhance modern cultivation skills while reinforcing food security and expanding income opportunities for rural communities across Sarawak.

“Sarawak Skills has achieved a commendable 92 per cent graduate employability rate, reflecting strong industry acceptance of its training outcomes,” he said.

“As of April 2026, Sarawak Skills enrolled 2,388 students and upskilled 1,693 employees across 325 companies statewide,”he said.

He also noted a 28 per cent increase in upskilled employees, rising from 1,324 in 2025 to 1,693 in 2026.
