KUALA LUMPUR: Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today handed over a contribution of 75 cattle to be distributed across the constituency in conjunction with this year’s Aidiladha celebration.

The contribution involves strategic cooperation among various parties and will be distributed to selected mosques and surau, as well as the local community, including Masjid Saidina Othman Ibn Affan.

Dr Wan Azizah said the ‘ibadah korban’ (sacrificial ritual) carried out annually is not merely symbolic of animal slaughter, but a manifestation of obedience, the spirit of sacrifice and concern for the community.

“In line with the Malaysia MADANI concept, this contribution programme is an effort by the Parliamentary Office to further enliven Islamic values, while helping to ease the burden of those in need, such as the asnaf and the hardcore poor,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the Prime Minister’s wife, said this when speaking at the Aidiladha cattle handover programme held here today, which was also attended by the Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and Cheras police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud.

In addition, Dr Wan Azizah expressed hope that the distribution of the sacrificial meat would be carried out in a transparent and orderly manner so that it reaches those who are truly deserving.

“May this small effort not only bring joy to the recipients, but also serve as a means to strengthen ties, foster unity and promote harmonious living within this community,” she said.

She also conveyed her appreciation to the management of the mosques and surau, the organising committee, as well as corporate contributors who helped make the programme a success. – BERNAMA
