KUCHING: Kuala Lumpur City FC assistant coach Wan Mustafa Wan Ismail congratulated Kuching City FC after the Cats secured a historic AFC Champions League Two qualification with a 1-0 victory on Sunday night.

Speaking after the match, Wan Mustafa praised Kuching City for earning the full three points and booking their place in continental competition following an impressive Malaysia Super League campaign.

“I want to congratulate Kuching City for getting the full points and qualifying for the ACL.

“At the same time, I am also proud of the KL City players for giving their best performance tonight,” he said during the post-match press conference.

Wan Mustafa added that KL City’s fourth-place finish with 37 points marked the club’s best achievement in more than 30 years.

“Fourth place and 37 points is KL City’s best achievement in more than 30 years, and I feel this has been a very good season for the team,” he said.

He also praised Kuching City’s determination throughout the season, saying the Cats fully deserved their historic continental berth after consistently showing commitment and hunger on the pitch.

The victory saw Kuching City finish second in the Malaysia Super League standings with 53 points, ahead of Selangor on 52 points.
