KUCHING: Kuching City FC (KCFC) head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, is hoping his wealth of experience can help “cook the right recipe” for success in the Malaysia Cup final.
The Singaporean tactician said there are no guarantees in football but believes his journey through various finals has shaped him into a better coach ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
“Hopefully. There’s no promise. But for me, I grew. I learned a lot. That was like six, seven years ago.
“But I’ve also been in the final of the Malaysia Cup, I’ve also been in the final of the Challenge Cup, I’ve also been in the final of the AFC Zone and won,” he told during a post-match conference after his side’s 1-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) on Sunday (May 17).
Hopefully, Aidil said that with the learning journey process, day-by-day coaching and game-by-game experiences, he has learned as a coach and hopes he can give something to the boys.
Drawing a colourful analogy to describe his coaching philosophy, Aidil likened his role to that of a chef preparing a winning dish.
“At the end of the day, I’m just a chef. You need a good recipe to feed in, to make it taste nice. So hopefully, it will taste nice on this coming Saturday,” he added.
Aidil stressed that continuous learning and adapting from game to game has been key to his coaching development, especially during high-pressure moments in knockout football.
The Kuching City boss will now look to translate that experience into results as his side prepare for a historic Malaysia Cup final, with hopes of delivering silverware to the club.
