KUCHING: The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications (MUT) and agencies under its purview have been commended for their strong teamwork, dedication and commitment in helping the Sarawak government deliver essential services and infrastructure to the people.
Its minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the ministry, departments and agencies had consistently worked together as one team, regardless of challenges, to ensure the successful implementation of water, electricity, gas and telecommunications projects throughout Sarawak.
He said the close cooperation among all parties enabled the ministry to provide accurate and real-time information during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, including responses to 45 oral questions and several written questions concerning basic utilities and internet connectivity statewide.
“We have all put our efforts in delivering our best to provide services to the people.
“I thank all officers, agencies and project teams for their hard work and sacrifices, including those who worked long hours and remained committed around the clock to ensure the smooth preparation of reports, data and project updates,” he said.
Julaihi said this in his speech during the MUT appreciation dinner and pre-Gawai Dayak celebration at Pullman Kuching, last night (May 19).
He also acknowledged the efforts of the various agencies and implementing teams in ensuring that major infrastructure projects, particularly under the Sarawak Water Master Plan, Sarawak Water Grid System, rural electrification initiatives and telecommunications expansion programmes, continue to progress according to schedule.
He said the Sarawak government remains committed to providing treated water, reliable electricity supply and better telecommunications coverage to both urban and rural communities, including those in interior and coastal areas.
“Therefore, the ministry and agencies involved will regularly monitor project implementation on the ground to ensure works are being completed on time and according to plan.
“The teamwork and spirit of cooperation in the ministry and all agencies are always there.
“We are always on the ground to see for ourselves that the projects are on time and on schedule,” he said.
Julaihi also congratulated the ministry and agencies for receiving recognition under the Public Service Innovation Award (APAN), describing the achievement as the result of collective effort and commitment from all parties involved.
He stressed that the ministry’s success could not be achieved individually, but through the combined energy, expertise and dedication of all departments, agencies and staff working together to fulfil the government’s aspirations in improving public services and infrastructure for the rakyat.
The minister also extended his appreciation to the media for assisting in disseminating information and updates regarding the ministry’s initiatives and development projects across Sarawak.
